Have to say I'm a massive fan of this idea. Kevin O'Shea - Manhattan interior designer extraordinaire - has a "Wall of Curiosities" in his pad, containing mementos and artworks. Cleverly placed by the dining room table for conversational purposes, the Wall of Curiosities is a constantly evolving piece. More info here.
